Time is a funny thing. It’s not uncommon to hear someone say… “I just don’t have enough time” or “If I only had more time.” Maybe you yourself have said something similar in the past or may in fact be saying it right now. The thing is, we will never have more time. There will always be 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute (FYI: There are 31,566,926 seconds in a year). The amount of time we actually have is a given… it’s the same. Not only that, but it’s the same for every one. You have the same amount of time as I do… as everyone does. Now, it is what you fill your time with that makes a difference. What do you fill your time with? What do you spend your time doing? Is it worth your time? I hope so. How we spend, donate, waste or whatever our time is a matter of priorities. If something is important to you, if it has true meaning and significance in your life… odds are you spend a lot of time on it. Right? But what should our priorities be? To answer that, we need only to look to God, the Creator of time. Not only did God create time to give to us here on earth, He is also the supreme example of time management. He created the universe and EVERYTHING in it in 6 days and still found time to rest on the 7th day. How well are you doing at managing your time? Are you giving time to God, to His church, to the things He said should be priorities in your life? Life is busy, true. But God is busier… and He always has time for you. I challenge you this month, at the start of this school year, this sports season, to really look at where you are spending your time and what your priorities are… do they match up? If not, clear your schedule. Get into a habit of devoting your time, first to God and your brothers and sisters in Christ, and everything else will fall into place. After all, He is the one truly worthy of all our time… every hour, every minute, every second. Happy September.
